A new portable wireless wheelchair scale is making measuring easier for clinicians and patients.
"Instead of transporting an unwieldy plate-based scale between patients—or transporting patients to healthcare facilities to be weighed—now healthcare professionals can easily carry a wheelchair scale that will ensure accurate weight measurement and improve patient care,” said C. Louis Klug III, vice president and general manager of Hopkins Medical Products, the manufacturer of the scale.
The scale uses four small sensor pads, which are placed in front of each wheel of the chair. The chair is then pushed onto the pads. Patient weight is immediately displayed and stored on the wireless controller. Weight data can be downloaded from the controller to a PC or laptop via a mini-USB cable.
