From April 23 through May 4, South Florida high school students will be offered a glimpse into life in a wheelchair. Speakers from the Darrel Gwynn Foundation are embarking on a campaign to educate students about the dangers of drinking, texting and horseplaying while driving as well as diving into unknown waters.
To raise awareness for people with paralysis and prevent spinal cord injuries, the group will introduce a speaker who sustained a spinal cord injury from a preventable accident. In addition, the organization will show a video called “It Could Happen to You.”
The schedule is as follows:
- April 23 – Miami Springs High School in Miami Springs, Fla.
- April 24 – Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
- May 4 – Miami Killian High School in Kendall, Fla.
