Grocery stores in seven states are in possession of a new shopping cart designed to assist parents and caregivers of children with special needs.

Caroline’s Cart was designed by Drew Ann Long, a mom of a special needs child who resides in Alabaster, Ala.

"Helping families like mine and millions of others across the U.S. be able to shop with their child is an important milestone in establishing a level playing field for special need children," said Long.

Long said that grocery stores, home improvement stores, general merchandisers and commissaries from all over the world are interested in Caroline's Cart. In addition, parents of children with special needs are asking for stores to provide the carts.

"We are thrilled that Caroline's Cart is finally reaching the consumer and providing a solution to a problem that keeps special needs kids away from the grocery store and excluded from the family shopping experience," said Rebel Negley, chief executive officer of Parent Solution Group, Inc and Caroline's Cart.

Caroline’s Cart is available at Belle Foods in three Alabama locations, Hy-Vee in Urbandale, Iowa, McDades Market in Jackson, Miss., Price Chopper in North Windsor, Vt., Middletown N.Y., and Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Reasor's in Bixby, Okla., and Sunset Foods in Northbrook, Ill.
